     But there is a differance. My intention is not to stir things up.I
have tried to avoid commenting but when I see a blatent use of double
standards where one/several people post using one set of behavorial
standards and others are expected to behave according to a differant set
of standards. I then feel that something needs to be said.

     I am not talking about being a fanatic. I am not suggesting that you
Shannon, or Felten are fanatics about your countries. One doesn't have to
be a fanatic in their beliefs to defend their country when they feel that
it or it's people are being wrongly attacked.

     Felten offering an opinion about something that he dislikes about
America is ok and that should be his right. Like you I might agree with him
if I were to be of the same opinion. But that is not the usual case with
Felten. He tends to attack people based on groups, the way things are done
in America, the USAian way, Etc. Most of Felten's comments are not based on
a particular item that he dislikes about America but instead are more of a
stab at the American people and the American way of life. A way of life
that is niether all good or all bad. It is not only the fact that Felten
happens to dislike American's and/or America. It is the fact that the ongoing
theme in his posts has to do with what he doesn't like about America. An
occasional opinion is one thing but with Felten all his opinions seem to be
negative. In fact he seems to be looking for negative things to say about
America or Americans. How often have we seen him find something on the
internet that he NEEDS to share with us all here in the "Fidonews" echo
about how bad something is in America or the American way of life? Sadly
others have started using the same tactic recently in response to Felten.

     The fact that he is also a moderator here and the Fidonews editor makes
his ongoing expression of his dislike of people based on their country and a
country's way of life even more of a problem. If he had the interests of
Fidonet and Fidonews in his mind he would avoid expressing his personal biases
in the echo or in the Fidonews. But as we all can see from his posts he has
little or no concern. He is the editor and therefore seems to feel that he
is free to act in any manner that he chooses. Regardless of the impressions
that people get of Fidonet or Fidonews based on his actions.

     You think on that abit and see if you can see a better way.

     The fact that you seem to think that this is a place for adults to
talk. It would be nice if it were but with many of the comments being
made (Including the moderator) that doesn't seem to be the case.
