Duhhhh. Sony's Beta format was much superior to VHS, but VHS became the
'norm' when it was found that it could record longer periods of time than
the Beta tape.

Since NA VHS has the ability to run at three different speeds, you have
just proven that you're no judge of that.

BS - The way discs are cleaned and properly stored vs tapes being
cleaned and stored has more to do with longevity. A disc, properly taken
care of will be as good after 200 plays as it was when new and could last
for 100 years or more. A tape given the same care and stored properly may
last 20 years.

Neither is VHS tape. It's deteriorating at a rate faster than anything
recorded to disc...
