I found them, ran the head cleaning tape through the machine, then played
a sample of what was there. Mostly monoral tapes until I got to one that I
copied myself from a Striesand album. It played just fine both channels,
but like all the rest, the volume had to be cranked to maximum.

The first one I played lost the track-tape connection to the tape. No big
deal, as I doubt they'll be played again.

I left boxes and boxes of that stuff in San Diego, along with the tape
player/recorder. Most of it was music recorded from a local FM station in
the 60s, commercials and all. My stepson works for RCA in L.A., so he's
either disposed of it or put it on CDs and then disposed of it...I'll have
to ask.

I know that. But, who knows, they might actually believe themselves.

You're aware that a digital signal doesn't need all of the information to
form sound or picture? The human senses can't detect holes in analog, let
alone digital.
