I don't know how the problems here were solved but F16's manage to stay
airborne lately. The planes are from the same batch bought by the Netherlands,
Denmark and Norway. (I think)

You are correct.

The Belgian F16 would lose because they were supplied without ECM for starters.
Around the time of the Balkan war some planes were fitted with French
ECM-systems but other than that I cannot comment on the reliability.
 
But true, due to budget cuts and noise restrictions (it is a very crowded
country here with a dense population) and some of the busiest airways in the
world, flights are restricted to 200 flying hours per pilot on F16.
 
Nevertheless some of the pilots were selected for Top Gun.

It's a rephrasing of a statement which was not as colourful but which carried
the same message. Eventually Belgium sent frigates and a fleet of minesweepers
to combat piracy and keep the sea straits clear of mines.

So that statement about the F15 is only an assumption, right?
