RW>> The heat is nothing, it's the high humidity that will do you in.

RB> I can only agree. I was often in Florida when my folks lived there,
RB> and the humidity was usually sky high even when it was relatively
RB> cool. Very oppressive unless you happened to live directly on the
RB> ocean and had a sea breeze.

I have the youngest daughter living in Okeechobee, just north of Miami.
She's a water bug, so I can understand her motives for living there.

RW>> My neice used to live in Titusville, across the bay from Kennedy
RW>> Space Center. She's moved back to Illinois, where the humidity is
 RW>> slightly more bearable.

RB> On the other hand, Illinois would be too far north for my taste - I
RB> don't like snow and ice either.

Neither do I. :o) My neices oldest (21) daughter just moved back to
Florida last week, so that has to tell you something about Illinois.

BTW, during yesterday's snow storm, people were abandoning their vehicles
on Lake Shore Drive and either walking home or taking shelter down town
(lots of hotels and bar and grills there). Nancy and I walked LSDr during
September and it wasn't so far from the hotel that we even got tired.

MvdV>>> I'd probably feel more at home in Califonia.

RW>> At least you wouldn't be bothered with humidity there.

RB> If it were only the climate, California would be ideal.

It used to was, but then the libs and fags took over.

RB> Unfortunately, you also have the politics and the tax situation
RB> there. Perhaps the Oregon coast would still be a good compromise?

A bankrupt state which is looking for any way they can to fleece the tax
payers into paying for the liberal politicians' mistakes. Glad I left the
state, even though I still thought the climate was the best there is. BTW,
Oregon is more liberal than California and I don't think I'd care for the
wintery blow that comes along the coast (out of Canada) up there.

 RW>> Freezing cold here today...

RB> ;-) And people from outside often think Texas is always hot.

Too bad we can't bottle that. :o)

RB> In the north, on the Oklahoma border, it's bone dry and blistering
RB> hot in summer (don't go out between around 10 AM and 5 PM or you can
RB> get heat stroke), and freezing cold with snow and ice in winter (-20C
RB> was no rarity) - normal "continental climate".

And because of that crazy weather, which is most often reported as Dallas
weather, people still think of Texas as hot and humid with miserable
winter weather.

RB> It gets milder and wetter as you move south towards the Gulf, though.

In-between Austin and the gulf coast, it doesn't get much better than
this. Although you can have the humidity of Houston. Not so bad in Corpus
and Brownsville.

RB> If you can pick your place of living, Texas offers nearly everything
RB> a person could want - just have to move to the proper area. I still
RB> think it's the best place in the world.

I think I was telling Joe Delahaye the other day about the 5 different
climates that could be found in Texas.

RW>> I thought about flying down to Miami to get away from it, but the
RW>> airlines are saying that thousands of flights have been canceled due
RW>> to the blizzard those damned Canadians sent here.

RB> Even that far south? I thought the problems were mainly in the
 RB> midwest.

Miami has clear weather, but the planes heading that way can't take off
to go there, or couldn't at the time. The weather that we're experiencing
this week has been spreading all across the country, dropping as far south
as the gulf coast and heading east. Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia have
stormy weather from a low pressure system that came out of Mexico and
across Texas earlier this week. It picked up moisture off the Gulf and
then headed inland. That is expected to mix with the really cold stuff
coming out of Canada and head toward New York and the east coast by
tomorrow.

RW>> Ahhh well, spring is right around the corner.

 RB> Corner's pretty long, though.

Spring type weather usually comes in the latter part of February here in
south Texas. This is what the snow birds (northers) come for.

RB> We had freezing rain Monday night, and the police had to close a
RB> section of the Autobahn because not even the emergency vehicles could
RB> get through - roads simply too slick.

If the system that has been here all week gets to Europe, you can expect a
lot more of that.

RB> Lots of accidents, of course - just lucky the weather warmed the
RB> ground during Tuesday morning and eliminated the glare ice.

It should begin to get warmer here tomorrow, but the weatherman is talking
snow before that happens. Could get a quarter to half inch, maybe just
flurries that melt before they touch the ground, then sunshine and warm
temps again on Saturday. I can't wait.
