Could be Robert Stack.  Or Paul Cornell.
If you believe George Harrison.

Or, it could be Brian Epstein.
If you believe Sir Paul McCartney.

Or, it could be Yoko Ono.
If you believe John Lennon.

Or, it could be Pete Best.
If you believe Ringo Starr.

There were others who claimed to be the Fifth Beatle.
Stuart Sutcliffe was the original bassist.  But he wasn't
very good, and the other four Beatles left him behind in
Hamburg.  Pete Best was the original drummer for the
Beatles, but he never got along with the girls in the
crowd and was soon replaced by girlie man Ringo Starr.
And then there was Mal Evans, the Beatles road manager.
He played an anvil on "Maxwell's Silver Hammer".  There
was also George Martin, who never played a single song
on any instrument with the Beatles.  Some say he is
the only one who should ever be considered as being
the Fifth Beatle.  Why?  Because George Martin was
the producer of every single Beatles record from their
very first professional recording session to Abbey
Road.

Of course, everybody has it all wrong.  The real Fifth
Beatle was Neil Aspinell.  He was the roadie for the Beatles.
Drove them all over the place on some kind of magical mystery
tour.  He was the guy who put on the show, managing business
enterprises for the Beatles.  He also took over management
of Apple Corps in 1968.  If it hadn't been for him, the
Beatles would have continued to be an unknown band playing
in rinky dink clubs in Liverpool.
