True - but there are cases where at least some of us have to agree with the
supposed "vigilantes".

An interesting case in point is that of a Frenchman whose teenage daughter died
under mysterious circumstances years ago. Her German stepfather, a doctor, was
suspected of drugging her prepatory to raping her, causing her death.

The doctor was actually convicted of a similar crime (without a fatality, just
drugging a young girl to rape her) several years later - this time in a German
court - and lost his licence to practice because of that. He continued to
practice, however, ignoring the fact, until he was finally taken out of medical
circulation by the authorities.

At any rate, the "good doctor" was tried in a French court, convicted of murder
and sentenced to 15 years in prison. However, the Germans refused to extradite
him to France, citing a German investigation that determined that there was
insufficient evidence to convict, and he filed an appeal with the EU, which
overturned the Franch conviction because the doctor had not been represented at
the trial (he naturally did not attend, as he could expect to be arrested).

The father tried for years to see justice done, and finally organized a
kidnapping of the doctor, taking him into France and leaving him bound hand and
foot in front of a French court building, where the police found him. The
doctor has since been under arrest in France, and naturally is not being
released on bail, since he doubtless would run straight for the German border.

Now the Frenchman, although in jail because of the kidnapping, is a national
hero in France, the Germans are in a difficult position (they tried to have the
Frenchman extradited to Germany, which the French naturally refused), and the
"good doctor" is facing another trial, this time with him in attendence.
