Nice that he would do that for you, for sure.

When we can afford it, we have the vet come here.. it's not cheap to do it that
way but he does give you group rates if he's going to do a passle of animals in
one visit :)  With 4 cats and 3 dogs, it does pay off now to do to "home
visits".  The main problem with that whole idea is rounding up the 4 cats
before he arrives <grin>  Sometimes, they just will NOT cooperate.

When we have to take just one to the vet's office, I also leave ours out so the
'kids' can play with it.. that works well most of the time.  I just have to
wait until the unsuspecting victim plays in it. :)

Luckily, with these 4 being so young I haven't had to deal with pills for them
but have had to do so with our previous Maine Coon cat - he was about 17 or 18
and had to have pills every day.. he was eating canned cat food at the time so
slipping the pill in a small abount of food seemed the obvious thing to do..  I
don't remember seeing the meat sticks you're talking about though.. that would
definitely have been easier I think.  With the small amount of canned cat foot,
more times than not Pete used to spit out the pill and swallow the food :) :)
then I'd have to quickly grab the pill before the dogs got it instead of the
cat! haha But yes, certainly an adventure.  With the dogs it was always
easier.. I just wrapped the pills in a piece of cheese and boom, it was gone..

Aw...  He sounds like a tough guy though.

Running sure sounds like my 4 kitties when they see me coming with the flea
medicine.. it's the type you place between the shoulderblades (frontline is the
company name here).. All they have to see are the blue plastic vials in my
hands, and they take off either for heights where I can't reach them, or out
the door :)  I don't understand why they care about this flea medication so
badly.. I'd expect they can't really feel much when it's put on them...

Yes, with Pete, it certainly was.  The poor boy eventually died of cancer in
the end.. he was a great cat though.. more of a dog than cat in some ways.. he
actually used to play fetch with q-tips :)  From what I understand in speaking
with other owners of Maine Coon Cats, fetching is quite common with that breed
of cats.  Also interesting, is that of the 4 kittens (now cats of course) we
have now, the male of the bunch, Leo, has all the markings of a purebred Maine
Coon Cat (M on his forehead, very long skinny body, very long fluffy tail,
snow-shoe feet).  Obviously someone's purebred got loose and mated with some
alley cat hehe
