He was travelling from Nigeria to the US, via Schiphol. At Schiphol he never
touched the ground. The in transit area is above ground and connects to the
planes via bridges. I know that this is hard for you to grasp as in the US one
probably does not have a similar situation. Technically he never was in
Holland, or in The Netherlands for that matter. He was surrounded by it, but he
was never IN it. As Ward explained: He never went through customs, was in an
international area.

Not necessarily. When in transit at Schiphol: unlikely. In his particular case:
no, he was never on the ground.

Yes, it does. Technically he was not in The Netherlands.

He could have mingled with citizens of many nationalities, but not as you
claimed "while in Holland", Because he never was IN Holland.
