============================
RW>>> Which, as it turns out, is a fact and not fiction.

DS>> Wrong again. Her system sent all of the messages out.

 RW>> Or so she claims.

ml> janis' system /had/ to have sent them all out or i would not have
 ml> gottenthem from rossC's system...

RW> The path from her shows them to be sent directly to Ross or bounced
RW> from Bob to Ross? That's how it used to be.

you seem to forget that in a fully connected polygon, the path may come by the
others in the polygon... that they come via a specific flow path the majority
of the time is a coincidence... they can easily come via (one of) the other
path(s) thru the star systems...

this is old school stuff... especially since the NAB and Z1B both had fully
connected polygon setups and also each had a central "pipe" system to feed to
the other... the WWB was also created around this time and it, too, had one
"central pipe" into one or the other of the two Z1 backbones... thus all
backbones were distributing all of the traffic of fidonet...

DS>> Some systems did not receive them all.

RW>> One of whom has stated publically that he only got the first page
RW>> directly from 261/38. Oddly enough, he's also a direct link.

RW>> While that person's downlink has said that he only got the first
 RW>> page from 140/1...

ml> wha have other downlinks from 140/1 stated?

 RW> Ask them.

i just did ;)

DS>> That is not her fault, it is the fault of the system that discarded
DS>> the rest of the messages.

RW>> You mean she didn't deliberately discard 11 of the messages from
RW>> Nick and sent only one page to Seaborn. Where's the fault, her
 RW>> system or his?

ml> how would that even be possible with today's tossing software and the
ml> way it operates? you're talking as if there are separate stages
ml> similar to the old methods of "double tossing" and the like...

RW> Who knows what happens on anybody's system but the system owner
 RW> themselves?

true... to an extent... how many sysops really know what formula(s) are used by
their tosser software? much less if that software even logs data like this? i
see plenty of software that logs dupes but none that save any of the data they
used to determine the dupe and log it... especially with message specific info
so the message(s) might be moved and sent on to those who should have gotten
them but did not...

DS>>> 5. I looked at Björn's BBS and saw that *HE* was in fact missing
DS>>> those same messages -- ergo he, or one of his links, had killed
 DS>>> them.

RW>>> Which was pointed out to you that they won't appear on his BBS,
RW>>> since what goes to his system from Janis' is 'passed through' and
RW>>> won't ever appear on his BBS. I would do the same thing if I were
RW>>> in his position as Editor of Fidonews.

DS>> You don't understand. He receives messages. He tosses them onto
DS>> his nntp server (part of his system).

RW>> Which is not a BBS...

ml> that's beside the point... he brings the mail in... some of it passes
ml> thru to other systems... you cannot passthru the same areas that you
 ml> participate in...

 RW> Oh?

yup... you show me how i can passthru an echo and still be able to have 2-way
conversations with others in said echo...

NOTE: we are not playing games here where a sysop may have more than one system
and/or tosser... the statement is about one system and that being the one that
the sysop participates from...

ml> so how can he participate in this area yet have it on passthru?

 RW> He's already explained that to you. 2:203/0 > 02 > 280/5555

that's multiple systems... but the conversation does not indicate such...

RW> A manual extraction of what he ports back to /0 isn't out of the
 RW> question.

ml> it is not possible on a single system with a single tosser...

 RW> Exactly.

thank you! so someone is playing games...

 ml> [trim]

RW>>>> Wrong, as Michiel, who is directly connected to Bjorn has stated
RW>>>> that he's seen all of Nick's messages.

DS>>> Michiel has various links to FIDONEWS. He has not yet said to my
DS>>> knowledge where he got the messages.

RW>>> He has confirmed that Nick's nodenumber was included in the path,
RW>>> thus all 12 messages were passed to Bjorn's system onto his
 RW>>> downlinks.

DS>> Nick's nodenumber would have been included in the path since that is
DS>> where the messages started. Says nothing about whether or not Björn
DS>> passed them to his downlinks.

ml> yet michael has just stated that he didn't read the messages but hit
ml> the [NEXT] button... if he did that, he cannot know for certain if
ml> that system was in the PATH or not...

RW> He did say that Nick's nodenumber was in the path...have you ever
RW> seen Michiel make an assumption based on not knowing.

no i haven't but he did state that he made an assumption which is also out of
character... he has states that he didn't read the message that he said he saw
nick's nunber in and that he hit the [NEXT] key... so which is it? he either
saw and read the contol lines or he didn't...
