<rotfl> I think JEff was co-mod of guitar when I was still
active come to think of it.

I wouldn't doubt it. I have an arrow J pole which is much
the same way, does well on both 2m and 70cm. I like my
copper pipe J pole better, a bit sturdier. I've also got a
Diamond dual band vertical up on the tower at the moment,
and a 5 element beam stationary pointed at Memphis for 2m
which is on the 2 meter only rig in the living room. It's
at about 30 feet.

RW> I rarely venture above 14 mhz on hf, unless 6 opens, then I quickly

RW> audio truck and secure the rope with the other end and get on 6

Roy> Tower? Sold my 48 foot freestanding b4 leaving San Diego and don't

YEah can relate. Wish I could have found my roof tripod in
the wreckage after Katrina. i liked it well enough, had a
mOsely tri-bander on it when we lived in inner city NEw
Orleans.
FOund it in an alley on junk pickup weekend, repainted it
and had it for over a decade, used it two or three different places I lived.

The tower Kathy's ex son-in-law found for us when we got
here after Katrina. While we were replumbing and redoing the electrical in that
pos mobile home we lived in when we
firstgot here I kept saying to her sil I wanted to get some
suitable mast material to use for 2m j pole, my tri-bander
got destroyed in Katrina also and I had a g5rv up in the
trees. HE kept saying don't worry about mast, he'd find me
"mast" and meanwhile we hung the j pole in a tree.

One night he showed up at the house about 10 P.M. and told
me to help him unpload this "mast" from the back of his
truck. I get out there, found 3 sections of ROhn 25. I
asked him where he got it, and he didn't want to tell me. I told him that i
wanted to know where it came from, because I didn't want to find out somebody
went to midnight parts and
hardware in somebody's backyard. he said then xyl's ex
husband had a bunch of Rohn 25 when he was doing the cb
thing, and when he had some of it up and it came down
damaging his current wife's house in the process she told
him to get rid of all the tower, so he gave us 3 sections,
trying to get back in his ex wife's good graces I guess.

I bought a top section at a hamfest. Right now I've got 2
sections and the top up, and a 3rd section lying here beside the house. Had a
hexbeam for 20m up on it for awhile, but
the falling deadwood from the trees destroyed that. NOw
there's vhf/uhf antennas on it, and a horizontal support
which helps support a couple of wire antennas stood off from it.

Regards,
           Richard
