And, if no working radio, and no battery operated lighting,
no fire = no signal for help  except for during daylight
hours when you might be able to use something as a signal
flag.

NOt just am I a smoker, but often if i travel it's for work, and my work
requires at least my rudimentary tools.

This along with the survival aspect means that I refuse to
surrender my basic survival tools, and that includes my
white cane.  IN the past some airlines made me give that up
too.  I'll strap it inside my seatbelt with me, but the
white cane *will* stay with me, come hell or high water,
along with my basic tools.
