HI Roy,

On Wed 2012-Jun-13 07:35, Roy Witt (1:387/22) wrote to Richard Webb:

That could well be. Thought about that when I reread the
messsage I was replying to. That seems likely, or some
other navy speak we mere civilians of back then weren't
supposed to know <grin>. But origination place sounds like
a good candidate imho.

<HEathkit lunchboxes>

YEp, and another reason that a lot of televisions were so
susceptible back then, according to an old ham radio friend
of mine who was a tv repairman and antenna installer for his day job was that a
lot of television sets back then used an
if that was 21 mhz. That for the uninitiated is the 15
meter band, a popular amateur band worldwide ack then, and
now.

Roy>> Haven't seen one of those animals in a coon's age.

RW> Nope, I traded that sixer for something else, ended up with
RW> a Utica 650, basically the same thing, but with a transmit
RW> vfo. I had a d-104 microphone connected to it.

Roy> I have one of those D-104 (lollipop)s on my TS520...back then, the
Roy> mic on the 10mtr lunch box was a 251 Turner.

I had one until Katrina, I think it ended up living in a
closet for a long time. I didn't use it on fm, and at the
time my only hf rig was an Icom, and I had a Heil for that
one.

Regards,
           Richard
