    I worry about many things Robert. But one I have had no reason to worry
about is someone I love getting shot. I have had more reason to worry about
automobile accidents than gun related accidents. As my daughter was involved
(As a passenger) in a rollover accident on the highway not too long ago.
Thank goodness she was ok except for a few scratches.

   A number of those who are anti-gun seem to think that anyone that
owns or posseses a gun is partly responsible. As if guns themselves
are the problem. The guns are not the real problem. It is the people
that buy or steal unlicensed guns to kill or comit crimes that are the
real problem.

    Gun safety is an important part of the responsibility of owning and
using a firearm. My daughter (16 at the time) asked to go hunting with
me last year. Besides being required to buy her hunting license. I
insisted that she take and pass a gun safety course first. A class she
took again in highschool. The class is part of the requirement for her
planned future career, that being law enforement. That is after her
planned tour of duty in the armed forces. As a father I can't help but
worry. But it IS her desire and career goal.

   I guess I am too. I have guns, both handguns and longguns. I can't
say I have a desire to collect them or need them. The guns I do have
each serve a specific purpose. And my attitude is that one should not
aim a gun at anything one isn't prepared to shoot. That and one should
always treat any gun as if it is loaded. I can't say that I know anyone
that legally owns a gun who has used it in anger or in the comission of
a crime. I am all for keeping guns out of the hands of people who are
criminals or who exhibited behavior (Physical or emotional) that would
preclude them from owning or possesing a firearm.
