I'm just providing accurate data, we all know how it goes when remembering a
certain time-equilibrium.
 
FYI ... Paul Watson today released a press-communication that Sea Sheperd
terminated its campaign due to a leaking fuel-valve of its campaign vessel but
stated that it ws the most successful campaign ever since they were able to
halt Japanese whalers for 3 contiguous weeks.
 
What he fails to mention is that:
 
* With 1 vessel running 12 knots you cannot stop a pack of 6 hunter boats
  running 22 knots spread-out over an area twice the size of my country.
* The tactic now is that 1 Japanese hunter "plays" with Sea Sheperd while
  the 5 others go about their business. For them it is a lot more productive
  to hunt with 5 that way instead of hunting with 6. The video from that is
  good but means nothing.
* His boats are painted black and on the high seas fly a pirate fag with
  skull and crossed bones. That makes 'm liable for arrest by any navy ship
  or policing force while out there.
* his ships are equiped with insufficient SAR tools. No spare fuel-valve? ??
  And you're sailing in that area?
* the several rammings, also occurences other than the Agy Gill, are all
  initiated by Sea Sheperd. IMO-rules on the high seas are quite simple:
  commercial vessels have the right of way. All 3, now 2, vessels of Sea
  Sheperd are registered as "sea going yachts". Whatever the situation, they
  have to give the right of way.
* one crewmember of Sea Sheperd boarded one of the Japanese hunters to
  perform a "citizens arrest" (the guy has seen too many Westerns) and to
  present an invoice. He was promptly arrested by the captain who has that
  authority on a Japanese registered vessel (which is Japanese territory)
  and will be turned-over to the authorities to be charged with piracy (?).
  Sea Sheperd undoubtedly will try to make a media circus out of this and
  be very vocal about whatever concerning Japanese whaling, but in the end
  captain Bethune (as is his name) will be found guilty and sentenced to
  something.
* One more thing about the disfunctional fuel-valve ... I don't believe the
  story. Bethune was the onlyone aboard that ship with a certificate to run
  a vessel of that size on the high seas. They're returning to avoid media-
  disaster ... hmmm ... perhaps someone with brains at Sea Sheperd after all.
 
Maybe you skipped over it all Bob, but then I hope you read this.
 
I know a lot of people in the environment protection world and Sea Sheperd are
on their own. The successes they have now are due only to a TV-station which
filmed a series "Whale Wars" which was highly overrated but nice to show on
screen.
 
Let me put it this way: would you donate to Hell's Angels as a security
organisation at events (remember Altamont)? Well, neither will I donate to Sea
Sheperd ... they're a nuisance rather than an asset. Unfortunately what they do
is fast food for the media.
