Or lack of criminal record as in this case (well, the crimes they're interested
in). I am then issued with a card (with my name and some personal details PLUS
my signature) that states that the Police have been unable to find any reason
why I shouldn't work in a place that has contact with children. I must renew
this card every two years.

One of the guys dies suddenly just recently. His children still live. He
doesn't worry about them any more...

My youngest brother was 11 at the time of my mother's death.

My father's parent died before WWII - his mother was fairly young I think.
Actually I don't know how old they were, but I don't recall seeing any photos
of them as old people.

My father's father died suddenly in 1914 or 1915 aged 53. I've no idea what he
died of.

His father before him lasted to 91, outliving my grandfather by 15 years. He
migrated to NZ in 1855 aged 16. My great grandmother made it to 82.
