A long standing joke: A protestant died and was welcomed at the pearly
gate by ((place your favorite 2nd in charge here) St Peter for
christians). As St Pete was showing the new resident of heaven around, the
recent addition noticed that there was a closed and locked door with a low
rumble of voices heard from within. When he inquired of St Pete, old Pete
said; Oh that room? It's filled with catholics and they think they're the
only people here.

But they did. Christianity wasn't as popular as it is today. Many early
christians were murdered by the intolerant idol worshipers in the Roman
colliseum.

One sect of Christianity, the original church, has at least three gods to
choose from and many, many idols that they pray to. As much as they deny
it, they do worship idols when they call on saints to intervene for them
with God. From St Andrew to St Zacharias.
