Ärende: Cellphone woes
======================

I'll remember that the next time I buy and completely renovate another house
;-))))))))))))))

MV> Two pairs should be enough for al times. Yeah, I know the feeling....

The sinking feeling when, years later, you discover you really made a mistake
that can't be corrected.

MV> 640K ought to be enough for everybody.... ;-)

You said it.

RB>> [P.S. to those who don't know my house and have problems

MV> Have you tried?

WLAN no, but...

MV> Here are spome suggestions. For the telephone(s) use DECT. DECT has
MV> very good "punch through".

... I already use this. The hardwire analog connection (two wires) goes from my
office to the cellar and thence to the living room to one of two DECT phones.
The other DECT phone is in the cellar, in my wife's former office, and is not
attached by wires, but is hooked up via DECT to the phone in the living room.
Obviously they have the same number and can't be used separately, but at least
that gives me a phone on every floor. I can naturally hook up anything I want
to in my office, since all the hardware is there.

MV> Google for "powerline communication", "PLC" or "Devolo" and you will
MV> get the idea. It may solve some of your problems.

I read about this earlier, but the problems were major (mainly interference
from the power line) and I thought the idea had died out. Thanks for the tip,
I'll check into it.

MV>>> I have programmed a different ring tone for when Rosa calls, but she
MV>>> does not call often enough to even remember that one different ring
MV>>> tone.

RB>> Is that on the cellphone or the house phone? If it's the cellphone,
RB>> is this the Nokia 1650 you mentioned?

MV> Yes, the Nokia 1650.

OK, thanks. I'll have to look into that too.

Cheers, Bob

P.S. At the moment, I have another minor problem... it seems that the "gmx.net"
domain has somehow been blacklisted by "att.net" (AT&T, in the States), and so
all my emails to my cousin, who has an att.net address, are bounced (claimed
"abuse"). I can reach anyone else with my gmx.net account, and can also reach
my cousin with my web.de account, so it's obviously a case of improper
blacklisting. Naturally AT&T claims GMX is at fault, and GMX doesn't reply to
messages informing them of the situation.

In the meantime, the situation is more amusing than annoying, since there's a
workaround. I'm just wondering how long it will take AT&T to realize they have
blocked the domain of a major email provider... generally someone notices this
in a few days, when the screams become loud enough. But we'll see.
