That was in the contract that Boeing had with the union, but if you opted
out of the union, you didn't have to pay their dues.

rights...

OTH, the civilian workers may be comprised of better paid former military
trained workers.

That's what I would have done had I been a member of Walmart management.
Here we are having built a big store that employs your citizens at a
decent living wage and they want to unionize and attempt to get a foot
into our operation...not gonna happen.

And be out of work with no or a token of pay when they decide that what
the union has, isn't enough. They always want more.
