TR> Ah....McGarrity! The guy I recently chased into his `twit filter'!
LOL... chased me.. I've been reading your drival all along... you're just one
of those who believes everything they read. I've told you, to me you're the
best comedian on Fidonet.... but I'll not bother with your rebuttal to my
nonsense over your nonsense. One question I have to you is being you seem the
"gubmint" is so behind climate change, why not just leave the country to one
that agrees with your findings? Oh wait, there are none. Oh well...
Regarding the sun driving our weather, no one has denied that fact but now that
you mention it, what are the effects of hydrocarbons on the atmosphere that
protects us from the harmful radiation of the sun? isn't it the Stratospheric
Ozone layer? Just some basic chemistry for you to read Tim... on how
hydrocarbons effect it...
http://www.pnas.org/content/100/21/11975.full
Oh, if you can't understand it I'm sure the folks at Briebart will explain it
to you.
All the rest of your drival is based on reporting by another source that takes
the news as entertainment. Once you, or for that matter, I can state from
first hand experience and testing either side of the arguement, I'd rather err
on the side that sees the damage as creditable. Face it Tim, do you really
care what happens. Both of us are old and we'll never see the total effects
but are you willing to take that chance with your future family members? If I
were you, I'd be more concerned with the Koch brothers trying to buy this
country right out from beneth us. Dedicate your vast "knowledge" into that
part of the equation.
I just left the rest of your drival here so no one can say I edited or took
comments out of context with your remarks.
Enjoy!!
TR> Low and behold! Vindication at last!
TR> Here's some recent and near-past information from some VERY prominent
TR> people in the field, that backs up my long-held opinion that `climate
TR> change-nee- global warming' is one of the biggest con jobs ever foisted
 TR> on taxpayers world-wide!
TR> Now...in keeping with this echo's policy of not posting up long,
TR> involved articles, I will only provide commentary on the information I
TR> have uncovered, quite by accident, that is readily available to anyone
TR> who reads the following informative current news sites
 TR> The Drudge Page
 TR> Breitbart.com
 TR> Townhall.com
BM>This alone tells me the rest is just humourous drival....
TR> What you meant was; those sites post up the truth which counters the
TR> lies, distortions, mis-information, and blathering bullshit the leftist
TR> mainstream media floods the news cycles with!
TR> For those of you who have scoffed at my skepticism and opposition to
 TR> the `climate change-nee-global warming' scam....prepare to get a stick
 TR> shoved in your eye:
TR> Ever hear of the American Physical Society?
TR> Neither had I till just recently.
TR> Seems its an organization that touted (until recently) `Man's' being
TR> the root cause of `global warming'.
TR> Its members were highly-regarded physicists and meteorologist, who were
TR> strong believers in the `global warming-nee-climate change' thing.
 TR> But...here's the point of this post;
TR> Recall, if you will, that I have been saying all along that it isn't
TR> now, nor has it EVER been about actual `global warming-nee-climate
TR> change'; it was always about MONEY!
TR> Firstly, many highly credible physicist members of the today's
TR> scientific community have described this `global `warming-nee-climate
TR> change' as a `scam' just as I have been doing for several years, now!
TR> For instance, Professor Richard Lindzen, formerly of MIT, a highly
TR> regarded phyicist, described `climate change' alarmism on the Larry
TR> King show as being like"...little kids locking themselves in a dark
TR> closet to see how much they can scare each other and themselves."!
BM>Richard Lindzen... is one of the approximately 3 percent of climate
BM>scientists who believe the human influence on global warming is relatively
BM>small (though Lindzen is now retired, no longer doing scientific
BM>research). More importantly, he's been wrong about nearly every major
BM>climate argument he's made over the past two decades. Lindzen is arguably
BM>the climate scientist who's been the wrongest, longest.
BM>The Weekly Standard... a deep rooted conservative news... devotes the
BM>first page of its piece to establishing how smart Lindzen is u and he
BM>certainly is a smart man, but as climate scientist Ray Pierrehumbert put
BM>it, "It's okay to be wrong, and [Lindzen] is a smart person, but most
BM>people don't really understand that one way of using your intelligence is
BM>to spin ever more clever ways of deceiving yourself, ever more clever ways
BM>of being wrong. And that's okay because if you are wrong in an interesting
BM>way that advances the science, I think it's great to be wrong, and he has
BM>made a career of being wrong in interesting ways about climate science."
 BM>Nuff said there....
 TR> *Ray Pierrehumbert*:
TR> The Louis Block Professor of geophysical sciences at the University of
TR> Chicago, which, in spite of the huge economic downturn of the US since
TR> BO (as in `bad odor') was elected president. Pierrehumbert was also the
TR> lead author on the IPCCThird Assessment Report, and also a co-author of
TR> the National Research Council report on abrupt climate change.
TR> The IPCC was set up by the United Nations back in about 1988 or
TR> there-abouts, is paid for by funds coming from taxpayers of several
TR> countries, and, obviously, if `climate change-nee-global warming' is
TR> fully exposed as the rip -off scam that it is, people like
TR> Pierrehumbert are out of funds from that source.
TR> Also... he directs the Climate Systems Center, which recieved a $3.6
TR> million dollar grant from the National Science Foundation.
TR> The National Science Foundation is a U.S. government agency.
TR> In other words...Pierrehumbert is awash in taxpayer money!
TR> And `what' do people awash in taxpayer money *find*? They *find* what
TR> will bring in even MORE taxpayer money, of course!
 TR> Nuff said there....
TR> John Christy, profdessor of atmospheric science, university of Alabama,
TR> Huntsville: "...I see neither the developing catastrophe nor the
TR> smoking gun proving that human activity is to blame for most of the
 TR> warming we see..."
BM>Christy released a study that claimed snowfall in the Sierra Nevada has
BM>remained consistent for 130 years, with no noticeable effect from climate
 BM>change.
BM>David Pearce, one of John Christy's colleagues, feels that Christy has
BM>gone beyond the data in his study, and that Christy is making claims in
BM>the media that have not been backed up by the study itself. Pearce adds
BM>that it ois unfortunate because peer-review is the process that filters
BM>out unsupported personal opinion from what is backed by evidence.o
 BM>Guess that covers that one...
 TR> From Farmer's Almanac, dated February 22, 2014:
 TR> RestoringHistory.US

 TR> #GlobalWarming
 TR> #ClimateChange
TR> "As John Christy, professor of atmospheric science and director of the
TR> Earth System Science Center at the University of Alabama in Huntsville,
TR> has noted, global temperatures collected in five official databases
TR> confirm that there's been no statistically significant global warming
TR> for the past 17 years - contradicting the predictions made by 73
TR> computer models cited in the United Nations' latest (wrong) global
 TR> warming report."
TR> Farmers' Almanac More Reliable Than Warming Climate Models
TR> Judith Curry, Chair of the Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Georgia
TR> Tech: Testified to the US House Sub-committed on the Environment that:
TR> "...the uncertainties in forecasting climate science are much greater
TR> than the alarmists will admit."
BM>Here's a link to show disprover her erroneous comments...
 BM>http://www.skepticalscience.com/curry-ohc-corrections.html
TR> There are so many `anti-Judith Curry sites out there it isn't even
TR> funny! It would be too time-consuming to list them all here.
TR> They mostly attack her because she counters a lot of the
TR> mis-information her hottest critics are attacking her over.
 TR> Here's a few for-instances:
TR> The `global warming' the pseudo-scientists have hung their hats (and
TR> government (make that read `taxpayer') funding) on was nothing more
TR> than ordinary climate changes that have been going on for millions of
TR> years on the Earth and in the Solar System. The so-called `global
TR> warming' scientists point to the year 2010 as a `sure sign' that global
TR> warming is real. But...just how long has yearly temperatures been
TR> getting RECORDED, as opposed to the number of years Man has roamed the
 TR> Earth?
 TR> Another example:
TR> When Curry openly admitted that scientists tried to hide the decline in
TR> global temperatures, she was immediately attacked from all sides.
TR> Most, if not all, her attackers are either in committed
TR> `taxpayer-funded' climate study programs, or recieve funds from such.
TR> Quite obviously, should those funds `dry up' due to it being exposed
TR> that this so-called `global warming-nee-climate change' is nothing more
TR> than a scam to bilk money from taxpayers to pay for pseudo-careers in
TR> `climatology', the money just may dry up!
TR> When Curry said that the IPCC was being `alarmist'...it is pointed out
TR> that "...numerous papers have documented how IPCC predictions are more
TR> likely to underestimate the climate response."
 TR> But....who `writes' these papers? Don't tell me people who have a
TR> vested interest in government (make that read `taxpayer') funding
 TR> continuing? No!
TR> And when Curry says "...there is no consensus." the response is "...97%
TR> of climate experts agree humans are causing global warming."
 TR> Two questions:
TR> How many of that `97%' are in study programs on the climate that is
TR> funded by some government (make that read `taxpayers')?
TR> Secondly...when did these so-called `experts' lose sight of the fact
TR> that the Sun, and its internal-external activity, is what mainly drives
TR> our weather? And you can get information on that in any well-stocked
 TR> public library!
 BM>Happy reading...
 TR> Happy reading!
 BM>Guess that covers that one....
TR> So much for that one.
TR> And one of the APS's most distinguished members, professor Hal Lewis,
TR> resigned in disgust over what he called the APS's endorsement of
TR> "...the global warming scam...!." That, by the way, was around three
TR> years back. I bet you heard very little, if anything, about that in the
 TR> mainstream media!
 BM>Ahhh... the best till last...
BM>The letter, written by Harold Lewis, emeritus professor of physics at the
BM>University of California, Santa Barbara accused the society of benefiting
BM>financially from climate-change funding. Addressed to the APS president,
BM>Curtis Callan, the letter calls global warming a "scam" and says that "the
BM>(literally) trillions of dollars driving it...has carried APS before it
 BM>like a rogue wave".
TR> And I wonder why the storm of protest is so strong over his exposing
 TR> the scam?
BM>He adds that Princeton University physics department,
BM>of which Callan is chair, "would lose millions a year if the global
 BM>warming bubble burst."
 TR> Ah...but is he right?
 BM>Callan strongly denies that charge.
TR> Of COURSE he strongly denies it! Millions of dollars are at stake!
 BM>"Do any members
BM>of the Princeton physics department perform research on subjects even
BM>remotely related to climate science? No,o Callen told physicsworld.com.
BM>oWould a hypothetical physicist engaged in such work be likely to shade
BM>the results of his or her work to hew to some "party line" demanded by a
BM>funding agency? That would be contrary to the ethical code subscribed to
BM>by all scientists I know." Now here's the kicker (or should I say stomping
BM>his feet because he didn't get his way). Lewis is also one of the 160
BM>physicists who last year failed to persuade the society to modify its
BM>formal statement on climate change. So let's see... out of 50,000 members
BM>who belong to the American Physical Society, 160 want to change/modify its
 BM>stance. That's .0032% Better do your homework/research a little more
BM>deeply that relying on Briebart's twist.
TR> The `gentleman doth protest too much'! (to paraphrase someone or other)
BM>Enjoy....and have fun on your three week rant over this post. I'm just
BM>going to sit back and laugh like I normally do with your morality issues
BM>over our past discussion. You should really get out and hit the comedy
 BM>club circuit. Bill
TR> `Three-week' rant? I'm gonna give this all the attention it deserves!
 TR> PPPPPPBBBBBBBBBTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TR> The bottom line was, is, and will remain:
TR> Global warming-nee-climate change was, and continues to be, a scam.
TR> It was finally revealed as what it was by a few people at East Anglia
TR> getting too arrogant and free-tongued in some of their e-mails.
TR> By the way....this is heading toward the end of March. A large part of
TR> the nation is still buried in snow and ice!
TR> ON the other hand...California, Arizona and New Mexico have been rather
TR> dry this year. Many of these `records' only go back about one hundred
 TR> years.
TR> The Earth is over four BILLION years old! Weather patterns,
TR> temperatures, and various climates here and there on the Earth, have
TR> been `changing' since before Man even existed!
TR> Its just that only recently (the last forty or so years) that some
TR> people have learned that, if you point to weather patterns, make up a
TR> good story to FIT your little scam....taxpayers can be bilked out of
TR> millions (if not BILLIONS) of their money for your benefit! A few
TR> politicians in the right places...a few `computer model' presentations
TR> shown in the right places....and viola! taxpayer money comes pouring in
TR> to pay for twenty and thirty year `careers' in `climatology'! Neat!
