Almost a mirror image as I see it.  All driven by economcs and the desire for
the once held satellite states of the old USSR to join NATO or the EU is a
thorn in Putin's side which he'll go to all lengths to stop that possibility. 
Russian ties run deep in the eastern Europe and there will always be
sympathizers.

Funny how that goes... power is just a tool.  Depends on how one uses it,
whether to deminish the human spirit and well-being or make it flourish. ALL
politicians seem to forget that fact.

There are rules governing each house and as such, whoever is in control may or
may not like the rules as dictated.  For instance, in the Senate, a vote of 60
yea's is needed to pass a bill.  This is known as cloture.  Although the Dems
have a majority rule, it's not what is called a "super majority" therfore votes
from the GOP are also needed. During the first two months of his first term,
President Obama had a super majority but lost it when a seantor from
Connecticut classified himself as an Independent. Meanwhile, the cost to the
tapayers for them playing their silly games is staggering. Wouldn't mind paying
that price IF things were getting done.

All the GOP talking heads say it when any Democrat runs.  They've said it so
many times I just shrug it off as hot air and move on.
