There is no scandal; there are people with realistic values and opinions
and there are morons who cater to those who think what was said is racist.
The latter would include all of the black players who had something nasty
to say about the conversation, but nothing to say about the illegality of
a recorded private conversation being made public. The NBA commisioner
over-reacted to what was said so that the black players would feel there
was something being done about it.

It is now no secret that the owner of the LA Clippers said something to
his ex-girlfriend in a private (he thought) conversation that she was
recording. The fact that she recorded that conversation without both
parties consent is illegal, especially in California where it took place.

The only scandal I see is that she recorded and then revealed a private
conversation without the other person's consent, thus making her the
guilty party.

In Sterling's defense (not that I'm on his side in this), he has 1st
amendment rights to say whatver is on his mind. That it was exposed to the
public and the black community took it as a racial statement, doesn't make
it a crime. Also note that the NAACP's only action in this was to recind
the award they were going to give him, but didn't kick him to the curb
like the rest of the black community. I shyuld say, the rest of the
LIBERAL black community. The conservatives in the black community think
like the NAACP and have a totally different view of this incident.

And I doubt that the NBA can make him sell the franchise if he doesn't
want to sell it. Nor that black players will void contracts with the
franchise to play, unless they're dumber than I thought. And, as of last
nights performance, they'll go on to the next round of playoffs, because
they have a contract to play. If they refuse to play, they're at fault and
won't get their millions of dollars in compensation. This also applies to
performance, as the players have a record on file and should play in
accordance to their usual performance.

Yes, there is free speech, but hate speech isn't what I'd call what Don
Sterling was saying.

If it was hate speech, the Feds would be prosecuting Don Sterling. They're
not.

There is a huge distinction between what is hate and something that is
bigoted speech. i.e. there is nothing that indicates hate in calling a
spade a spade. Homosexuals would like to be called Gay, but there is no
nothing to indicate that a homosexual is gay.
