Here's the thing, and I mentioned this in another echo when this controversy
with Sterling first broke;


This whole situation sort of smells, to me. Here's a guy telling someone he
`thought' he could trust, something in what he `thought' was a private
conversation, which suddenly hits the news cycles!

RW>recording. The fact that she recorded that conversation without both
RW>parties consent is illegal, especially in California where it took place.


Not only that...its funny that this whole thing became `what he said'....and
there's nothing about the legalities of what SHE did by secretly recording
him!

The whole thing just doesn't feel right. Look how fast it all happened; from
the time of this private conversation, to the time this NBA big-wig is out in
front of a camera with Sterling's life-time ban decision, and making noises
about forcing him to sell the team; what? A couple of days?


RW>In Sterling's defense (not that I'm on his side in this), he has 1st

I'm not taking his part in this, either. But I do have to wonder how he was
smart enough to make the fortune he made, but isn't smart enough to take steps
to protect himself from situations like this.

He didn't commit any crime. And I'd question this NBA bigwig's authority to
tell him he `can't be anywhere his own team is practicing, or attend any of
their games'. He's not been convicted of anything in a court of law, only the
`court of public opinion'. Don't see how they can legally keep him from
attending his own teams' games. OR make him sell the team.


This all just came up on the screen and went into `over and done with' mode
far too quickly to not have something wrong with it. I think if the `owner'
had been a black guy, and we were talking about him not wanting his `white'
girl friend to be bringing `white guys' to *his games*....this would have
dragged out for a couple of years, gone into `occasional mention' mode, and
quietly gone away. No NBA bigwig would have gotten involved. No lifetime ban
even been suggested by anyone. I can't help thinking the whole situation isn't
known to the public yet.
