David Letterman is a comedian, just like Bill Cosby.
David Letterman is white, just like Bill Cosby.
David Letterman is married, just like Bill Cosby.
David Letterman had multiple affairs, just like Bill Cosby.
David Letterman made the same denials, just like Bill Cosby.
But David Letterman got a free pass, while Bill Cosby did not.
Why?
Because David Letterman is a white man and Bill Cosby is a black man.

Of course.  And white men get a pass, while black men do not.

So was Jack Kennedy.  And Lyndon Johnson.  And Franklin Roosevelt.
And all the other US Presidents.  Except for Barack Obama, who some
folks claim is not really American, or even Christian.

As a society, we hold black folks to a higher standard than we do
white folks.  That is why George W. Bush could get away with blowing
up frogs with firecrackers as a kid and still get appointed president
while Barack Obama could never have hoped to have gotten away with
such shenanigans.

We are all racists and bigots.  Each and every one of us.  Whether we
choose to admit it or not.  What we do, or try to do, to overcome that
racism and bigotry is what really matters.  Some people do better than
others in that regard.  But nobody is perfect.

We live in a white man's world.  If we lived in a black man's world
things would be far different.  But we have to deal with the hand that
has been dealt.

An injustice has been committed, not just against a member of
the black community, but also a member of society at large.
Therefore, blacks are protesting.  Along with others who agree
with the principle of justice that is being sought.  People
have the right to peaceable assembly under the 1st Amendment.
Not just white people, but all people, regardless of race.
