I tried to follow that in my partial restoration of the 56...I went so far
as to soak original bolts in a brine solution with 12vdc attached to an
'iron' source for the rust to collect on. That worked, but it was too time
consuming. After experimenting with that, I just used whatever was in the
fastener junk box, painted the heads with a rust preventer and let it
ride...

I guess that I'm not a true collector, then...I don't recall ever having
something that I haven't changed to suit my own tastes. Car guys in the
states call that 'customizing', which has been popular since before I was
around cars.

When I worked road-service, I bought LED flashlights and worklights for
the occasional night time service. That was in 2007 and the one that I
used for that is now in my pickup and serves as a work light at the race
track. It is as bright as ever. I have another that I bought at that same
time that is still in its original packaging. Maybe it's time for a
comparison test.
