Ärende: NO MORE CENSORSHIP!!!
=============================
Hello Everybody,

North Korea threatened to do a 9-11 on America
if Sony did not cancel "The Interview" - a movie
that Sony had made poking fun of dictators and
dictatorships. Rather than standing up to the
bully, Sony chose to comply.

Imagine that. The mad little dictator of North
Korea gets to censor what movies can and can not
be shown in the US of A! All that puny little
runt has to do is say the word and Hollywood
will listen!

But Fidonet sysops would never let that happen.
Especially the editor/moderator of the FIDONEWS.

Or would they?

Take look and see -

           -=-=-=-

Rules of the FN_SYSOP Echo

Access:

All Fidonet sysops have nonrevokable access as
long as they are listed in the current Fidonet
nodelist.

1st amendment: If someone is disrupting the echo
enough, to make the participants' uncomfortable,
and in a way that ccan not be handled with the
aid of Policy 4, an echo partipants' consensus
may overrule this rule.

Moderator:

Björn Felten at 2:203/208 until such time that
the participants of the echo decides that a
change should be made.

           -=-=-=-

All seems well and good with the above rules
in regards to the FN_SYSOP echo, right? If that
is what you think, you might want to take another
look -

"All Fidonet sysops have nonrevokable access as
long as they are listed in the current Fidonet
nodelist."

Define "current Fidonet nodelist"

Define which "current Fidonet nodelist"

Define whose "current Fidonet nodelist"

Define "sysops" in relation to "nodes" -
as it has been shown that the two are not
necessarily one and the same.

Where does it say that non-sysops are not
allowed to be particpants? NOWHERE!!!

Oh, those "participants of the echo" not being
limited to Fidonet sysops, or even people using
their real names. There must be some kind of
difference that was not clearly stated in the
rules. Must have been the word "nonrevokable"
access referring only to Fidonet sysops ...

Anyway, let's continue with this post, such
as it is.

In the same FN_SYSOP echo, one Fidonet sysop
misinterpreted the rules of the echo, introducing
a motion to change the rules -

           -=-=-=-

From: David Drummond
To: All
Echo: FN_SYSOP
Subject: Bans
Date: 12/13/14

There are those who think that nothing should
be banned - that it infringes in individual
freedoms.

As such, I propose a change to the rules of this
echo - that we should remove the rule banning
non-nodelisted persons from participating here.

This ban certainly infringes on their personal
freedoms and doesn't keep us safe in any way.

           -=-=-=-

This is not so much of a rules change as it
is a rules clarification. After all, there is
nothing specific in the rules of the echo that
actually bans non-nodelisted persons (sysops
or non-sysops, real people or fictitious),
from participating in the echo.

I have noted no objection at all from the
moderator of record, Björn Felten. And he
is the judge, jury and executioner of the
rules of the echo.

The following example was posted in the
FN_SYSOP echo by the "Feedcutter of Fido"
- a title bestowed upon Ross Cassell by
a sysop from the land Down Under. And
what a doozy this is -

           -=-=-=-

Echo: FN_SYSOP
Subject: Cyberstalking
Date: 9/5/2014

Hello All!

LL>You're all wet.

LL>Evrybody knows what you wrote, and insinuated,
LL>in the FN_SYSOP echo.

LL>Ross' claim is not credible, as is your claim
LL>of ignorance.

RC>You taking content from FN_SYSOP and posting
RC>it elsewhere, no one said you had to like it.

RC>Here kitty, kitty, kitty!

RC>Stop trolling boy.

           --=-=-

As can plainly be seen, Ross was not happy to find
the insults he had written in an echo he regarded
as being off limits to non-sysops in another echo
in which anybody and everybody could read them.

Ross was especially upset that the insults he wrote
in one echo "reserved for sysops" was found in an echo
he had been trying for years on end to make his own
"sysop-only" echo.

So what did he do?

Ross reposted a message I had written in the FIDONEWS
echo in the FN_SYSOP echo, and then invited me to
participate in the FN_SYSOP echo like all the other
nodelisted Fidonet sysops -

RC>Here kitty, kitty, kitty!

RC>Stop trolling boy.

So how about it, Björn? Don't be a punk like that skunk
in North Korea. Time to open the floodgates. Listen to the
words of Sir Paul McCartney and "Let 'Em In". And be sure
to thank the Kiwi living in the Land of Oz while you are at
it. :)
