All human activity is political, regardless of what
that activity is, because it takes place in a context,
that context being history.  In this case, the history
of Fidonet.  And that is something, as editor of the
Fidonews, that you cannot escape.

Every editor of the Fidonews has been political
since the beginning of Fidonet.  Every editor of
every newsletter, newspaper, magazine, or other
publication has been political since the beginning
of time itself.  Being political is something that
no pressent or future editor of any publication
can ever escape.

Homer was political.  The Bhagavad Gita (quoted
by Oppenheimer) was political.  The plays of
ancient Greece were political.  Dante was political.
Shakespeare was political.  The list can go on and
on, as we are all social and political creatures.

You cannot deny who you are any more than anybody
else can.  We are who we are, whether we like it or
not.

All the great poets were political.
All the great musicians were political.
All the great artists were political.

We cannot help ourselves, as we are who we are.

Of course, how to combine politics with creative
work remains a bone of contention, especially among
those on the political Left (those on the Right
think they are the only ones who are Right and
that everybody else is Wrong, as there is no such
thing as the Left).
