Hello Everybody,

I am sure that we have all seen the news on television -
Nine black Americans were murdered in cold blood by a white
racist as they all prayed together in a historic black church
in Charleston, South Carolina.  This tragic event has led
many people, both black and white, to call for the state
government of South Carolina to do the right thing - to
remove the offensive Confederate battle flag that adorns
state grounds.

Why is this Confederate battle flag so offensive to so
many people?  Because most people view it as a symbol of
white supremacy - racial hatred of blacks in particular.

Oh, the defenders of the Confederate battle flag will
tell you it is about Southern heritage, having nothing
at all to do with race or hatred of any kind.  Notice
that virtually all of these defenders are white people.
Such lilly white pureness - Southern Pride at its finest.

Governor Nikki Haley, an Indian American with brownish
skin, was up for re-election last year.  Her opponent, a
black man, made the issue of removing the Confederate
battle flag a key part of his campaign.  Governor Haley
steadfastly refused to have the Confederate battle flag
removed from state grounds, claiming the flag did not
hurt South Carolina's ability to attract or retain
business.  In fact, she liked the Confederate flag so
much, this is what she had to say -

"I can honestly say I have not had one conversation
with a single CEO about the Confederate flag."

After nine black people were shot to death by a white
racist in a historic black church, Governor Haley ordered
all flags to be flown at half-staff for nine days - one
day for each victim.  The American and South Carolina
flags were lowered to half-staff, but the Confederate
battle flag remained flying sky high, showing the world
how proud the white people of South Carolina were to
call it their own.

Yesterday, Governor Haley made a live telecast, telling
the world she wanted the Confederate battle flag to be
removed.  But she noted that it was up to the General
Assembly (state legislature) to do so, being as it was
a power beyond her reach.

There was a larger Confederate flag that proudly flew
above the state Capitol building itself, from 1962-2000.
A smaller version is what is at issue now, this version
flying on state grounds in a Confederate memorial.

It will take a super-majority of the State Assembly
to get the Confederate battle flag removed, as it falls
under the piece of legislation known as the South Carolina
Heritage Act (2000) - the act that was passed in order to
get the other Confederate flag off the building.

Governor Nikki Haley knows she has the racists in line
to keep the Confederate battle flag flying for as long as
forever can be.  And then, when the votes or cast, she
can blame those racist legislators for having given the
white people of South Carolina exactly what they wanted.

Nikki Haley has become the new George Wallace of the South.
Only smarter.  Get them liberals to think you are doing things
one way when you are really doing something another way ...

This symbol (the Confederate battle flag) is the flag
of Dylann Roof - the white supremacist who murdered nine
black Americans inside a church - still flies on the
Capitol grounds in Columbia, South Carolina.

And Ross Cassell says he does not care one whit.
He says he does not care one whit about black people,
or how many black people were murdered in cold blood,
by a white supremacist.

His words.  Not mine.

The Confederate battle flag is the symbol of an
ideology - an ideology of white supremacy.

To say that one does not care is to express disdain.
In other words, give tacit approval to what one knows
is wrong.

The Governor of South Carolina, the President of the
United States, every candidate (both Republican and
Democrat) running for president, have stated their
position as being in favor of having the Confederate
battle flag removed.

It is time for ALL Americans, of ALL colors, to call
for the having the Confederate battle flag removed.

This "heritage not hate" - the heritage of White
Supremacy - is not acceptable.
