Ärende: Moon Time

Hello Everybody,

A strange question was asked by a fidonet sysop -

Indeed it isn't. Regarding time... in the late sixties,
early seventees my sister and I were watching one of the
twelve people that ever walked on the moon drilling a hole
in the ground. The my sister asked me: "wat time is it on
the moon?"

I didn't have an answer. I could only assume that the
astronauts remained on Houston time during the mission,
but that was just an assumption. There is no such thing
as "moon time". Yet... I wonder what will happen if ever
the moon is permanantly colonised. It stands to reason
that - at least for the first generations - it will adopt
some earth related time. Most likely UTC. After three -
or ten - generations, who knows...

A few things should be noted -

One side of the moon always faces the earth,
while the other side always faces away from the
earth.

No man (or woman) has ever set foot on the moon,
much less returning to earth to tell the tale.

Those two truths should be self-evident, but for
some odd reason, people want to continue believing
in fairy tales.

Such as the idea that 12 men have walked on the
surface of the moon and returned to earth to tell
the tale.
