Hello Janis,

On Thursday September 03 2015 12:19, you wrote to me:

The proper way to list a node that is temporay down for an unspecified time is
to list it as "Hold". But she kicked him out completely.

 JK> Just guessing there.

Obviously.

JK> She was fair and looked at situations objectively.

What does it have to do with Roy changing IP addresses. The proper way to deal
with that is to see that the nodelist contains the correct information for
making a connection.

JK> Brenda, I and the other members of the ZCC did not have a reason to

No you didn't. Allowing or disallowing someone to password out others is not a
technical issue, but a political one.

 >> And _you_ didn't take all that long. You did not carefully consider.

JK> I read all there was to read about the "case", and replied. I didn't

Because your mind was already made up. "Ridiculous" you said.

JK> IIRC, Roy's system at the time was a Pvt system.

No, it was a RIN.

JK> Brenda and I didn't find his locking you out a technical error.

Indeed, it is not a technical error. It is a political decision.

JK> Both Brenda and I recognized that if a system could not lock another

Fidonet was designed as a peer to peer system. The idea was indeed that every
system could connect to every other system. One does not need a "reason" to
connect. The presence in the nodelist is an open invitation to connect. When
one does not wish to accept mail from others, one should not be in the
nodelist.

This goes even more for a RIN for which there is no default routing.

Roy passworded me out to annoy me. You set a dangerous precedent by allowing
such behaviour.

 >> We all know how that went with you waking comatose ZCs to vote

JK> No, they understood exactly what was involved in that case as you
JK> could tell from their responses.

What responses? All I ever saw from Bin Li was a single message with the
content "Hello Ward Dossche". We only have your word for it that there was
more. All attempts by anyone in Z2 to contact Bin Li without you as an
intermediairy failed.

Sorry Janis, your claim that Bin Li understood what it was all about and made
an independent judgement of the situation has no credibility.

Cheers, Michiel
