One of the problems I have is when writing these texts ... will I offend
perhaps someone I really like who as a consequence will not address me again?

I have my own opinion about the Eagle-scout program. In theory it is good and
during my years in big business and politics I met many in leadership positions
who were Eagle scouts, also in the UN.
 
However, it is made way too easy while at the same time it is made a big thing.
Eagle projects which are just a laugh ... I asked a kid one day "What was your
project?" ... "Well, I built a bench for the park" ... "Yes, and?" ... "That's
it"....
 
More than half of the kids I get at Melita Island BSA scoutcamp are Mormon,
they seek me because I am from Belgium and I can satisfy one of their
requirements for the "Citizenship in the World" merit badge. Assuming you had
it, you would know it involves stuff dealing with the UN ... I worked for the
UN.
 
So I ask 'm "The UN are composed of 4 councils. Whichones?" ... "Duh... I
dunno" ... "Well, your scoutmaster signed you off for the requirement, so you
should know". I did this with a Momron kid in 2014, refused him the Citizenship
in the World merit badge, which is required to get to Eagle.
 
So this summer apparently there's an Eagle court of honour where a scout is
getting his Eagle badge ... that same guy. So I looked-up his file and he had
been signed-off for that Citizenship-badge by his scoutmaster. So I asked the
kid "The UN are composed of 4 councils. Whichones?" ... "Duh... I dunno". He
didn't know the Secretary-General, couldn't explain anything about the World
Scouting Movement, nor the Red Cross, etc etc ...
 
Most Eagle awards are earned by LDS-kids with merit badges earned at a "merit
badge factory" ... in 1 week earning 32 of them ... it's impossible, except
when you're Mormon. At camp we figure in 1 week three badges is a god result.

I am not surprised. The LDS church operates the largest genealogical database
in the world. I could even look-up my family way into the 1800's ... and if you
were once a member of the church, they have you on record. But I'm not Mormon,
no-one in my family is ... yet they have the information.
 
What I can't fathom is ... they're not all idiots, there are intelligent people
among them too. So how can one believe that nonsense ... is way past me.
Indoctrination at very early age I guess.
 
My good friend Howard once told me "I have researched my family tree all the
way down to the paradise and I'm a direct descendant of Adam and Eve". Then the
following discussion erupted:
 
Me:  "So you were able to trace that down with historical documents?"
He:  "Yup"
Me:  "So there is a birth certificate for Adam and Even? Since they were
      first, who drew it up?" [god probably]
He:  "The church has stuff"
Me:  "So, where would you put the time-stamp then of Adam and Eve? How long
      ago did they live?"
He:  "About 6000BC"
Me:  "Then how about dinosaurs and Neaderthal men?"
He:  "They never existed. These bones were put there by god to test us"
Me:  "Test us? I thought she knew everything? Why test us then if you know
      the result already before even beginning?"
He:  "God has misterious ways ..."
 
One thing I learned ... don't have any religeous nor political discussions with
them. It's unproductive... They voted for Romney merely because he was Mormon,
not because maybe they figured he was a good politician.
 
Another thing about their leadership. Kid 19yrs old goes on a 2 year mormon
mission, when he returns he is called "Elder" (at the age of 21 and supposedly
capable of providing spiritual and religeous guidance ... picked-up by knocking
on people's doors?
 
In the catholic faith, a potential priest needs to go 4 years to seminary, then
go to college and earn a master's degree in theology. Without going into the
debate which is better ... don't they notice the problem?
 
Nearly all the mormon kids I get at camp are also home-schooled, even if they
live in urban areas with schools. Many Mormon parents just want to keep 'm away
from a different style of thinking, they need everything pre-chewed. As a
result many fail during higher education, except when going to BYU ... ahaaaa
... there's the clue. They can't spell, they can't write, they can't do any
calculus, they reject evolution... Maybe Mormons have less brain cells ...
 
Then again ... Einstein was a brilliant scientist ... and scientists devote
their lives proving there is no god ... yet he was very religeous. It doesn't
add-up.
