Ärende: Rules of Echomail
=========================
Hello Michiel,

 >>>> They can prevent access.

 >>> Dream on. Those days are passed.

JK>> Not necessarily. Just this year there was a situation in one of the
JK>> echos where I am moderator. A user who ignored my warnings was
JK>> removed from the echo by the sysop from who's board he posted (the
JK>> sysop simply removed that users access to that echo).

MvdV> A more assertive user would have found another board to post from.

Would not have mattered. Janis would have had her lackey, Ross
Cassell, chase him down the ends of the earth to deny access.
Or done it herself.

MvdV> BTW, users are an extinct species in this part of the world. Metered
local
MvdV> calls is what killed the BBS in the mid 90ties. The last user spotted in
MvdV> the wild was in 1996 IIRC.

The big thing for 2016 is about access. People have the devices.
The technology exists for whatever people want. The biggest change
that will be taking place over the next year or so will be about
access and how to access information that people want. And that
means cost. If something is not affordable, it is not accessible.

JK>> The sysop asked me for proof, evidence of the abuse etc. which I
JK>> provided, and it was a done deal. So one cannot say in every case
 JK>> "those days are passed".

MvdV> Your case is the exception.

It is the norm in zone 1. Here is the so-called "evidence" -

 MvdV> Hello Janis!

MvdV> Saturday July 11 2015 10:21, you wrote to All:

MvdV> Rules every four months - works for me.

Do a `Cassell';

Post the rules in this dead echo every couple of days, making sure
they're so restrictive nobody posts here anymore.

And if people continue to post in here...the rules aren't
restrictive enough! Stiffen them a bit each time till message
traffic ceases.

That's the `Cassell' way!

                   -=end quote=-

At the time, Tim was apparently posting "live" without the
use of an offline reader. I doubt he was aware of the rules
at the time he posted the message. No other previous message
posted by Tim could be found, so I am assuming this was his
first message in that echo. He did write two or three messages
to Janis after she told him to leave the echo, based on the
above message. But now, thanks to her recent posting here,
I find that she wanted to have Tim banned from C.G. Learn's
board in addition to having him removed from the echo. She
has further revealed that she will travel the far ends of
the earth to deny Tim access. Or best case scenario - have
Tim banned from fidonet - for life!

Of course, she would never do this herself. After all,
she has her lackey, Ross Cassell, to do all her dirty work.

This is what Tim was referring to - "That's the `Cassell' way!"

Ross would use blackmail to get a sysop to do his bidding.
Either drop Tim from the echo (or better yet from your system)
or lose your own feed. Since Ross has the full blessing of
Janis, the sysop chooses to comply.

When the participant blames Janis and/or Ross, the two of them
deny having anything to do with it, saying it was the sysop who
did it. Always with good reason, as the sysop is always right.

Wanna take a look at the rules?
Janis posted them on March 2, 2015.
Quite short. Not much to them.

Bottom line, Janis was using this as an excuse in order
to try to get Tim banned from using a board to access fidonet.
