I have only gone to one professional football game in the Superdome,
having to perform a halftime show.  It was the Saints and 49ers, with
the 49ers starting quarterback (John Brodie) out with an ankle injury.
Even though Brodie said he could play, the coach decided to put in the
rookie to see what he could do.

Saints fans were so disgusted they put paper bags on their heads.
And it got worse from there.  I was on the sideline, along with other
members of my band, watching the entire show.  It was awful.  And there
was no place I could go.  I had no place to run.  No place to hide.
Not even a paper bag to hide my face.

Joe Montana & Co. put on a clinic.  The Saints were so far behind
at halftime, I am not even sure how many fans remained in their
seats to watch the halftime show.  For his first game as a rookie
quarterback, I could only wonder what days lied ahead for the lowly
Saints, as the 49ers were in the same division at the time.

I do not remember the final score.  Something like 49-3.  Truly
awful.  Definitely a game not to remember.  Unless you are a 49ers
fan.

On the bright side, Joe Montana loved New Orleans so much that
his son decided to go to college at Tulane University, and is the
quarterback for the football team.
