================================
Hello Allen,

LL>> The manager of the convenience store finally admitted the boy had
LL>> bought the cigars, and not stolen them, when reporters showed up
LL>> to question him. Had he told the cops the truth from the beginning,
LL>> the boy might still be alive today.

AP> Then the blame needs to fall on the manager and not the boy or the cop.

The manager kept his job. And his store. The cop was not arrested.
Or charged. The boy is dead. The boy's parents are mourning.

LL>> I saw a lady try to shoplift a television set by walking it between
LL>> her legs. She was a big woman, and was wearing a dress, which hid
LL>> the television from view. But her walk kind of gave herself away,
LL>> and she got caught in the act as she was walking out the door.

AP> Old trick... many turkeys and hams walk out during the holidays. Harder
to
AP> waddle out with flatscreens now.

That will not keep people from trying.

LL>> If you want to steal stuff from a department store (such as WalMart),
LL>> you have to know how to do it. The first thing you do is get hired.
LL>> Doesn't matter what position. Janitor will do. Then, when opportunity
LL>> knocks, drop your item of choice in the dumpster outside the store.
LL>> After hours, or during your time off, drive up to the dumpster and
 LL>> retrieve your new toy.

AP> If only the dumpsters were outside... most walmart's have compactors that
AP> destroy anything put in them pretty thoroughly. To prevent that same
thing
 AP> from happening.

Dumpsters are more prevalent elsewhere. But still can be found
behind some stores/businesses.

Dumpster diving can be very lucrative. It even keeps many homeless
people alive. The number of homeless increases in areas where a fast
food place is located, especially just after closing time. They know
the burgers that are left over cannot be sold the next day, and are
dumped in the bin at closing time. So if you want to get your tummy
full, get your fill before the others stake their claim. And try
your best not to get caught in the act. Otherwise, your next meal
might not be so yummy.

AP> I've booked dozens of employee thefts and it is usually theft by retaining
AP> recepits from other customers and stealing the items by walking out with
AP> proof of purchase and later returning the item for cash. 95% of these
 AP> idiots get caught though.

I'm not sure stealing unsold burgers from a dumpster qualifies as
theft. And even if caught, what is the point? It would cost more
to house them (and feed them) than to allow them to keep what they
have found.

LL>> If you were a greeter and saw a woman trying to shoplift a tv set
LL>> by walking it between her legs, would you make her spread her legs?
LL>> You know what would happen next ...

AP> In that case we can argue reasonable suspicion. The good thing about
those
AP> stores is they can watch video of people walking in... and video of them
AP> walking out. The software they use is sophisticated enough to identify
 AP> those
AP> who have different shoes on the way out... (if the viewscreen operator is
 AP> paying attention)

So we are paying people to watch other people stealing items that
those people feel are needed for themselves to survive. How does
that make sense? Far better we simply give folks what they need
to survive rather than force them to steal it from others who can
easily afford to pay.

I am being quite serious about this.

There are 46 million Americans today who are economic slaves.
They are working full time jobs, and using their entire wages
to pay existing bills, and are still falling behind. That
number keeps rising year after year. Sooner or later, a point
will be reached that people simply give up. Why work when
there is no point?

Jesus never had a job. Went around the countryside, dressed
in rags, telling a bunch of children's stories to anybody and
everybody who would listen. Of course, she did not travel by
herself. She handpicked a group of followers. All of them
teenagers. It's all in the gospel accounts, for anybody who
cares to read it.

AP> However there's a store in Europe called HEMA and I rather like the way
they
AP> treat their shoplifters aka Winkeldiefs

 AP> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxMCBC0HpFQ

AP> LOL... best bust ever... Yum Yum Yum lol

That is funny. But I still say it is better to give rather
than to receive. So keeep dropping those burgers and fries in
the box for the homeless. Their lives depend on it.
