no sir, sorry... when i load my IP updater, it stays running until i shut down
the machine or explicitly cause it to exit... it is a daemon and does its job
quite silently and when needed...

my firewall is custom built... if i want it to do something, then i have to
implement it... i do not trust or like those commercial "wall wart" firewall,
modem, router things... never have... my modem(s) run in bridge mode to my
firewalls which do all the heavy lifting and have a lot more capabilities than
those commercial things...

i used to use dyndns years ago... until they screwed me on my registered
domains during one of their upgrade periods... so i found another service that
worked and actually offered a lot more capabilities... i used them for a while
and then started paying them for their services... i didn't get any more than i
already had but i didn't loose anything, either...

it all depends on the traffic and at what level the DNS servers are
connected... some things, many actually, are not as fully automated as folks
might think... i know of a lot of places where it looks like everything is
automated but you never see all the folks in the backroom doing all the actual
work and data entry to make things happen...
