of course they did... the very first two connected systems were two TZs apart
IIFC... but it wasn't anything of any major importance... the math was easily
handled... but then again, i haven't seen any original FIDO BBS software in a
long time... it may very well have been using UTC or such... and the specs do
not state anything about what reference frame the time in the packed messages
was to be used if any at all...

agreed... i wasn't referencing their jobs as part of it... just the fact that
they were doing this on their own time and still had jobs to deal with taking
up a large portion of their time...

no... i don't... especially not since the principle developer and creator of
this network also wrote major portions of the BIOS code for Phoenix at that
time... and there again, following along with everything else of the day,
clocks were local time in many systems... if running everything on UTC was to
be "the thing", don't you think that even the BIOS makers would have done what
they could to enforce the BIOS clock to be set to UTC and leave it to the OS
stuff to convert /IF/ it was desired?

i don't think so... the name of the game was simplicity and do it in as small a
footprint as possible... local time... UTC time... it didn't really matter in
the whole scheme of things back then... did it??
