The man is an unrepentant socialist, not a "senile bugger".  He
blames conservatives and bankers, along with the previous government,
for Greece's problems.  Along with the EU's demand for more austerity
measures.  He does admit to having had no choice but to reign in the
cost of some of Greece's programs, given the cost was getting a tad
bit out of hand.  But it was a problem that Greece could fix on its
own, without help from the EU, according to him.

Papendreou claims it was the previous government that created
the debt, not his own government.  Kind of like Barack Obama blaming
George W. Bush for the problems the USA inherited.

All great countries and empires have done so, especially the USA.

What else was there for guys to do?  Either find a woman and get laid,
or go fight a war for the emperor/king/dictator.  Worked for the Romans,
worked for the Greeks, worked for soldiers of all nations.  We do the
same today, only instead of "new slaves" it is economic bondage.

All kingdoms are corrupt, as it takes grease to make the wheels turn.

The man is a socialist.  A very proud socialist.  Does a tiger
ever change its stripes, or a leopard ever change its spots?
No!  He defends his actions and blames others for the problems
that exist!  That rabbit was just too tempting and was begging
to get eaten ...

Why work when you don't have to?  A socialist always strives
to create a society of leisure.  As does a capitalist.  The only
difference being who pays for what, and for whom.
