For mbse the last weeks I received patches to allow Chinese in ftn. This is
going to be complicated but it can be done. Even one of the editing
characters we use in the west has to change. For Chinese you need special
editors too to be able to enter the text,

What it does show is that we should allow all possible characters included
double byte characters. But in the end the message readers en editors have
to deal with that for the users, the ftn network just needs to transport
unmodified messages.

It would be good to drop the soft-cr but I don't see that all editors that
enter soft-cr characters will disapear.
