bullshit... not all messages are meant to be read by humans... additionally,
just because _your_ attention span is so short doesn't mean that other's is...
many folk had no, other than software imposed, problems with the acquiring and
reading of the P4 changes that i posted to an echo several years back when that
movement was taking place... my software had no problems posting, packing and
delivering the P4 updates to the echo in which that activity was taking
place... it was those with "inadequate" software (mostly sysop readers) that
had a problem receiving the complete, all-in-one-message proposal postings...

that depends on the subject and the audience... nothing more... there's been
many times that i've read 10+ pages of a magizine article... three columns wide
in each page with no adverts or pictures interspersed...
