     I agree with you that there are indeed a number of things that one
would expect from a piece of software. In the case of editors to not
cut or chop text. To handle CF's and LF's properly. To not introduce
unnessesary kludges. To name just a few. The fact that some may do these
things doesn't make them broken. It simply means that they were not
written well enough to prevent or avoid doing so.

     Typo's don't really bother me as long as the intent of the message
is intact. I am certainly not above making typo's and mistakes myself.

    Some will also complain about quoting too much of a message. Except
for needless taglines and the like. I normally quote the whole message
I am replying to as I don't want to accidently change the context of a
message my omiting part of it.

    A fault, a deficiancy, a lacking. Absolutely. But if a program was
never coded to avoid or to prevent a particular action. It isn't broken.

    The problem that exists with many of the older software packages is
that there are limited options available to those SysOp's that choose to
use them. I don't think that there is one program that does everything
right or the best. With the software in question it is the editor. With
another it is likely to be something else. With a few exceptions we are all
running outdated software. I use what what works for me and best satisfies
my needs. The mailer I use here is abandonware. So is the mail processor.
I use them knowing that they have some quirks or bugs. For me the priority
is to move the mail as efficiently and accurately as possible.

    Perfectly? Not going to happen. <g>
