The real question is: "Why should anyone care since the FTSC is a dead
organization and Fidonet is quickly following?"  From what I've seen,
the FTSC simply serves as an empty figurehead for doing something that
hasn't been needed in many, many years.  As was pointed out to me by
someone else, Fidonet is "stuck in its DOS past and its Internet
present."  Until we can agree to move on, the FTSC serves zero purpose.

I joined the FTSC wanting to be enlightened by the members who seemed to
want assert their Fidonet-related technical superiority to try to move
Fidonet forward but all it seemed was an arguement over the most minute
details and no actual work was done.  Then soon after the elections,
everyone lost interest and the echo was dead silent until time for
elections.  There was, however, plenty of trashing of my presence simply
because nearly all of the vocal Z2ers in the FTSC think I'm a
knuckle-dragging idiot because I'm an American.

(For those who don't know, those messages were what Alexey was hinting
at when he said he couldn't forward messages from the private FTSC
echo.)

I already know that my opinion does not matter on the FTSC.  I know that
many of you do not like me and would be rather happy if I was not
involved.  The fact remains that I am involved and I feel that your and
Alexey's condescending, arrogant and quite foolish remarks concerning
your lack of comprehension of the FTSC charter and P4 (being that you
evidently don't realize the difference between "recommend" and
"require") are a bad thing, especially when you've both been proven
wrong by myself and others.

I think that the FTSC membership doesn't realize that in the grand
scheme of things, the only thing the FTSC considers important is its own
being, not the work that it was tasked to do.  It seems to me that
membership in the FTSC is simply a feather in one's cap and does more for
one's ego than Fidonet's well-being.

It is tomfoolery like this that drives new nodes from Fidonet.  In case
you don't know, I've run my own FTN-style network for over a decade now
quite successfully.  In the course of my duties there, I have asked
several nodes if they would like to join Fidonet.  They refuse stating
that they think Fidonet is nothing but "a bunch of little Napoleons" (as
was told to me).

I'll just sit back and watch from now on.  I can make a fool of myself
easily enough but I know to be quiet and watch in the presence of
masters.
