This is true (and a major disappointment of mine) BUT -- his teachings
didn't start a church...early Christians mainly had Faith (Not belief,
though there some of that in faith of course) But faith in the acceptation
of a resurrected Jesus...  

  The initial message gets lost in the

Well,,,,the mark of a theologian is his infinite capacity to make
distinctions...:-)

  I think churches that ban fun things
-> like music to be quite suspect in their interface with the real world.
The flag of distinction...The satisfaction of being a little
different...The  real quarrel I have here is music 'being fun'. I think it
is profound, provocative, entrancing: "Without music, life would be a
mistake." (Nietzsche).(If there was any justice, My piano-playing would be
a federal crime.)

Money is power, influence. Sometimes a whip helps :-_

Yer talking big churches. There are tens of thousands of small churches
honestly run by sincere pastors. And churches that are failing are about to
be buttressed...every time there are economic woes, the pews fill up and
overflow...Sorry to be the bearer of such bad news...:-)
