MvdV>>>>> Let's wait for the court ruling shall we.
 RW>>>> That could take years.
 MvdV>>> I am not in a hurry.
RW>> Expediency is the name of the game in this case. Stopping pirate bay
 RW>> is number one priority.
MvdV> *Their* priority. Tyey don't mind playing the game of strething for
MvdV> time when the shoe is on the other foot. Microsoft has the nasty
MvdV> habit of infringing on others rights and then draaging the case for
MvdV> years until the opponent is bamkrupt.

They're not alone in that. Some companies stall until people are dead too.

RW>> When they fall, other heads will roll soon after.

MvdV> Do not underestimate the power od the consumer. All that money
MvdV> spent on lawyers comes from the pockets of the consumers. Once they
 MvdV> realise thet....

It'll be just like it is here with illegal imigration. Only those who're
here illegally and their relatives want the government to give them
citizenship and forgive their crimes. Probably won't happen, although the
12 million believed to be here, won't be rounded up and taken back to
their country. There are plenty of latinos here who don't want to give
these illegals amnesty and citizenship, they'd rather see them sent back
and if they wish to return, get in line behind those who've been waiting
to come here legally.

Plus, the lawsuits that seem to crop up in urope against MS has probably
prompted them to do this to regain money the courts have taken away from
their profits. There's more than one way to skin a scoundral.

MvdV>>> If the treaties make US copyright law enforcible in other
MvdV>>> countries that signed the treaty, then the same treaty makes
MvdV>>> Dutch copyright law enforcible in the US.
 RW>> Perhaps...
MvdV> Why the perhaps? All those treaties are bilateral agreements.

How do you know that without reading them? It takes more than just
perusing it, asking for legal advice is almost certain to be required.

MvdV>>> Hmmm, I like that, if you are right, I *can* sue Shannon Talley
MvdV>>> for stepping on my rights after all....

RW>> Like you've been told, you have no case, so you will be laughed out
 RW>> of court.

MvdV> Those who told that had no idea what they were talking about.

I've told you that and I know what I'm talking about. I suspect that
everyone else does too.

RW>>>> I suppose they're enforcing Svedish laws then.

MvdV>>> Of course they are. at least that is what they think. We shall
MvdV>>> wait to see if the court agrees with the prosecution.

RW>> Oh, the court makes the decision, even though it's tried by jury?

MvdV> They have juries in Sweden? Don't think so.

Then they don't have a true democracy, as claimed. Judged by your peers
and not your government is real democracy.

RW>>>> Wouldn't it be better for the software pirates in those
RW>>>> countries if your governments hadn't signed such treaties? Then
RW>>>> there wouldn't be such a controversy over it, even here.

MvdV>>> With 20/20 hinsight it may indeed have been better not to sign
MvdV>>> international aggreements with the US.

RW>> That would work both ways. Then you wouldn't be bitching about it.

MvdV> Then I would have no reason to bitch as any attempts to inpose your
MvdV> laws on us would have no leg to stand on.

Your country belongs to the EU, you have Dutch law and you have EU law,
which prevails in copyrights? Here, the federal laws cover copyrights, not
state laws. I would think that if you're country wishes to belong to a
union of states, it should concede it's copyright law in favor of the
union's law. The EU has a constitution and I'll bet it has copyright laws.
Those laws should supercede Dutch law.

MvdV>>> They always explain eveything to their own advantage and very
MvdV>>> seldom hounour their part of the deal.

RW>> That probably depends on which side of the toast is buttered.

MvdV> The US a is a powerful nation and they use that power to see that
MvdV> they always get the long end of he stick.

And it's no different where you live. Every country looks out for
themselves and they're always looking to get the long end of the stick. If
that weren't so, there would be no EU.

MvdV>>> They probably wont go away entirely. It will just fade into
 MvdV>>> oblivion. Like BSA.

RW>> What you perceive as 'fading away' may be the silence of the
RW>> prosecuted...too proud to tell everyone about their sentences.

 MvdV> Dream on.

I'm not prone to dreaming, I stick to reality.
