Ärende: Fighting Spam

Hello Frank,

Responding to a post in the INTERNET area:

I'm getting old. What's your excuse? <g>

Whatever floats your boat.

FV> Possible. Problem is that some of the spam comes from out off the USA.
FV> The FBI won't be able to do much about that, I think.

That's the same reason I won't send reports to them and for the fact that
they have no jurisdiction in Canada so they're unlikely to read anything I
may send to them.

Just out of curiosity, I did the "ipv6 install". Then I ran "ipv6 if >
ipv6.txt" which gave me a two page (double spaced) worth of data that I can
reference later. I then did "ipv6 uninstall" and had to restart XPP to
complete the uninstall process. The one thing that I did *_NOT_* do (and I
will do the next time I install ipv6), was fire up my web browser and try
to access the router configuration manager.

Very impressive IP addresses. I'm not sure if it was providing the IP
address for the Win98SE box (which was running on the network at the time),
and that's one of the reasons I want to access the router configuration
manager.

FV> While not impossible, FTN systems have a harder time faking the FTN
 FV> address and path. :)

I'm not online (at this moment), what is FTN?

That should cover the software aspect... Hardware router?

FV> All ports that are not used for the BBS are blocked.

There is a file that can be used to turn off unnecessary ports; what is the
name?

           Cheers ... Gerald

... It was at that point I realized ... I didn't want a pickle.
