Hello mark,

While I've been working on the nightshift, I've had a lot of free time (I
only walk around for ten to fifteen minutes of every hour) and I've been
_TRYING_ to read "Teach Yourself TCP/IP Networking in 21 Days" by Brian
Komar (when I say "trying", I mean that this is a very technical book and
I'm having a lot of difficulty understanding the terms -- not really a book
for the novice).

The good thing is that I found was an entire chapter devoted to IPv6 and I
believe that the author went to the extreme to make it understandable.

He even printed a URL for testing IPv6 on a Windows 2000 computer:

Since I recently trashed the W98SE system and installed Win2K, I thought
that I would download the IPv6 research packet.  I haven't installed it yet
(on my To-Do list within the next couple of weeks), but I did notice that
the software has an IPv6 to IPv4 converter (not sure about going IPv4 to
IPv6...)

Now, I believe that this program is intended for NT class Operating Systems
and is not likely to work on Win9x systems...  If anyone feels daring
enough to try it on a Win9x system, do so and advise me/us of the results.

Of course, Windows XP includes an IPv6 implementation in the operating
system and can be loaded from a command prompt, by typing "IPV6 INSTALL"
(without the quote marks).

The Linux IPv6 Development Project, also known as the USAGI (UniverSAl
playGround for Ipv6) project, provides a test version of the IPv6 protocol
that can be loaded on various Linux versions at www.linux - ipv6.org/.
(it is difficult to read the print in the book and I'm not sure if there
are spaces on either side of the hyphen; try it either way and I'm sure
that one will likely get you to the site)

The KAME project (www.kame.net), provides an IPv6 stack for BSD variants,
including FreeBSd, OpenBSD, and BSD/OS.
