Normally should a linux distribution system have a command to make updates of
files and it not have is it a bad distribution then. Redhat, Debian and
mandrake + mandriva has its update function, where it gets tar.bz2 and rmps
home from internet.
This is those and mostly gentoo there using ebuilds and emerge.
You can try to look after some special file as bash ile or sh file for update
and upgrade as some distributions has a scripts for this.

If ubuntu not have a howto's is it good I not have try to use the cdrom I got
from my computer dealer.

help on Internet.
