Obviously not for messaging else we'd see more than we have.  From my
obsevations over the last decade, I appear to be one of the few who actually
does this for messaging and find it annoying since it has only served to
increase inconvenience or at the very least retained the original amount of
inconvience.

Web browsers are for browsing.  Editors are for messaging.  The two don't mix
well and I for one don't believe they should since they are completely
different animals.

I covered that when I said extra resources are needed.  You are confirming my
original statement.  Is it worth it?

Don't use java, and my guess is that I never will.  Never needed it and I doubt
I ever will.  Have run into www sites that claim that I do but I ignore them
since they don't know what they're talking about.  As for plugins, I don't have
any since I've been able to do what they do all along without them.  I have
better stuff too since I've kept up with desirable formats and have managed to
avoid or minimize the pitfalls along the way.  Things like CD's and DVD's and
floppies in the past. Anything that requires special treatment tends to get ye
ol' heave-ho in this neck of the woods.  I did read Java references when it was
first proposed way back when but decided then and there not to bother since it
had nothing to offer.

We seem to be drifting a tad but I think the above still contains elements of
the original criticism.

Other than the current political blogs at the moment, I totally disagree. They
are no different than Fido echoes except on the web based ones it is the web
administrator doing most of the posting while in Fido it is sysops.  Also the
web based ones you're never sure about the so-called users being real and in
reality could indeed be the same person posting under a different handle.  That
happens in a far lesser degree in Fido echoes.

I had access before there were ISP's so you're on the wrong track there. I have
expereince with the internet before there was a www.  A web interface back then
was reserved to actual spiders.  Speaking of which, back then I wouldn't have
had to differentiate between a real spider (insect) and the ones in cyberspace.

Way ahead of you here.  I evn could access the internet from a home based PC
when BBSing was in it's infancy.  Funny thing about that is they weren't all
that much different then except the internet had more resources at it's
disposal.  Still does even if you don't count the www which I don't.  The www
never held much appeal to me and has become less appealing the more I use it.

Hate is too strong a work.  Utterly useless would have been a better
guesstimation.  ;-)
