Hello All!

Just for fun I thought I'd do a test of dumping messages to a local file using
lynx.  What I did was to login to the web interface and highlight the desired
message which yeilded the url and identification of that message.  I then cut
and pasted that information to a commandline as follows;

  lynx -dump \
    "http://www.filegate.net:8080/bbbs?id=xxx;do=yyy" \
    > ~/Janis/in/test-dump.message

where xxx and yyy are the proper information wrt the BBS and the particular
message.  The result is text but still contains unneeded information wrt the
REAL message but that can be filtered out or ignored. Also this only works if
actually logged into www.filegate.net since her web based BBS is handling that
part correctly as it pertains to BBSing and not to normally publically
accessable web servers.  If I add
-force_html then of course the html tags would be preserved but in my
particular case this is undesirable.  :-)

Too bad the web server's downloading messages thingy doesn't work properly as
that would have saved much hassel on the user's part but I suppose sysops don't
care about downloads or offlining messages anymore. Furthermore the web BBS
should have options as per format and a suitable download agent.  Also a secure
shell login wouldn't hurt any but I have my doubts about BBBS ever getting that
far along seeing it never got a proper telnetd working correctly.

Bottomline is that real BBS's are still superior but that should come as no
surprise to anyone who has experience with all this networky schtuffenputten. 
Offlining never did work good within Fido so I am only going by what is
exchanged within a session and am using vi to create this particular message
and then "fmt -s"'s output to cut and paste to a sessioned online web editor. 
Definetly not user friendly by any stretch of the imagination and likely never
will be all things considered.
