One of them.  The one you describe above is hooked up to a computer via the WAN
port with a different address than the router has so that it makes it difficult
to hack into the actual network beyond the router without knowing more than the
router shows, which isn't much. No dhcp on there either so you'd have to guess
it's wireless address. Not perfect but better than most.

I also have another box I am attempting to set up as a wireless access point
just for fun.  No stinkin' lousy web interfaces for configuring, as well as no
remote configuring, so you have to be sitting at the keyboard. Also no user
friendliness there whatsoever as that makes it too easy. Still working on it
but at least one of my neighbours knows how to communicate with it
successfully.  Everything there is terminal based just like a BBS except not in
the way Fido sysops think about BBS's.

Seems to be a common trend these daze.  I still like the sil based ones as they
are inexpensive and work right out of the box.  I haven't tried the raid
functions as I don't really have a use for that.  Hotswapping works 100% and
that is what interests me.

Might work as long as the kernel supports it.

I've never seen bzip2 on a DOS box.  I've heard of gzip and tar on a DOS box
but never bothered with any of that - including pkzip etc. - on my DOS way back
when for anything that mattered.  What for?  Keep it raw!!!

I've seen that happen.  That might have been from a compressed html page on the
server or a bad transfer or something along that line.  Lately I have had to
cut and paste urls for displaying graphics to get rid of the javascripting crap
they like to put in everything.  Farming the graphics to fbi produces far
better images than every browser I have seen.  I do the same with streaming the
little I ever concern myself with streaming. Browser plugins are crap ... if
they even work to start with.
