That is correct.
I didn't actually do that but it wouldn't have mattered to me because I'd
always wonder if there's some
residual fragment of that malware left over.

I mean for heaven's sake it clobbered F-prot's fpscan and I've never had
trouble with that before.
I downloaded a clean copy and it corrupted that one too.

Nasty one that one was.

SOK anyhow, it helps keep my memory sharpened up to go through this once and a
while.

I'm in no rush and I'll have all the software I want on here in the next couple
of days and all my
bookmarks and such back.

Our illustrious leader and moderator of Cyber Danger did tip me to Firefox's
trusted sites
option and I must admit to not having stumbled across that.

Packed to the gills this drive is only 32 percent used in partition number one.

Yeah that's right you are there and it's my intent to do so but yet another
darned secure password to deal with, yuck.

 > Nope, this was malware, no doubt about it.

MK> You're more than likely right but I question it corrupting the system.
MK> Your home account on the other hand is probably a mess, especially
MK> firefox. Also never give yourself system access as that can open a can

MK> I don't doubt that. However if you fix the real issue then you'll
MK> minimalize future irritation. I would argue that chasing ghosts is the

That's the way I choose to look at this experience, a learning experience and I
should have taken some of
these steps long ago.

F-prot is going to be kept running in memory if it doesn't burden this antique
too much.
Live and learn.

But truly what a PITA all this is just because the world is full of thieves and
idiots
creating this malware and the ones smart enough to create the horror this one
is is certainly smart enough
to get a legitimate job making money from those skills, heck right now the U.S.
government is actively seeking
such types for employment against their fellow malware hackers and even foreign
governments.

Yeah, a secure and separate account will be created for the banking, ect and I
auto run
on shutdown a microscopic perl script to clear cache on boot or at any time of
my chosing.

This is rather too much trouble to go through over and over again and the
malware environment
really is getting worse for Linux as there was a time I recall these systems
really weren't targeted
hardly at all.
